The Pelican Bar – Voted Best Bar on Earth

Who would have thought that this, seemingly rickety old shack, would be voted best bar on earth? Well this shack has more to offer than would seem possible from a structure of its description. The Pelican is located on a sand bank that is  about a quarter mile of the coast of St. Elizabeth. This bar with it’s thatch-roof, drift-wood walls perched atop wooden stilts is accessible by a 20 minute ‘ferry’ service provided by local fishermen.

At first you may be tempted to assume that this hut re-purposed as a bar can’t compete. How could it go up against the local and international establishments such as Margaritaville? Well, i can say that when you enter all that changes. The rustic ambiance, the views, the sun, the sea, the food, the drink, the service, all these together is the reason why it was voted “Best Bar on Earth”.

You can spend your time sun bathing, having drink around the bar, swimming the surrounding water, eating wonder meal of fried-fish or better yet just taking in the scenery the location provides. Also when you visit please bring along a trinket to leave behind (to say “i was here”) to add to the growing collection of license plates, t-shirts, flags and other thought memorabilia.

You will just need one visit to see why this little thatched-roof bar has beaten more “refined” establishment in places like Germany, Sweden, England and the United States.
