Irie Blue Hole And Secret Falls

If you had to describe paradise I bet the description would sound something like clean, clear, blue waters surrounded by large rocks and lush greenery. If it I am right you are in luck because one such paradise exists right here in Jamaica commonly called “Blue Hole” by locals. Irie Blue Hole And Secret Falls ,Ocho Rios is the perfect paradise for just about everyone. This spot has not yet been commercialized. This means that you will get to see it in its entire unspoiled, pre-commercialization splendor untouched by human hands save for a few benches here and there.

It isn’t easy to get there as there isn’t really a road and many drivers will refuse to take you there. In the end it will all be worth it. The tour lasts for about 2-3 hours and includes a stop at the actual Blue Hole and a hike up to the waterfalls. On the way back to your hotel you’ll get to sample some authentic Jamaican cuisine.
The lush foliage will let you know that you are close and that’s when you should break out the camera. The clean blue of the river is extremely inviting even to the most aqua phobic person. The thrill seekers can jump in from a cliff that’s about 6 feet above the water, or swing on a rope Tarzan style into the deep blue waters. The less adventurous people like me may choose to climb down the rocks instead.

It is recommended that you just jump into the freezing water (kind of like ripping off a band aid) so you can get to the good part. The romantics can steal private moments in the little cave hidden by the water coming down the rocks. It’s a very small space so you should feel pretty cozy. The hike to the falls is about 10 minutes so when you’ve had your fill of frolicking at the blue hole you can ask your guide to take you there. You will be led up a narrow trail to the falls where you can get some refreshments both alcoholic and otherwise and you can showcase your photography skills as this is where you’ll get the best pictures.

The travel times are as follows
From Ocho Rios – 30 minutes
From Falmouth – 1.5 hours
From Montego Bay – 2 hours
From Negril – 2.5 hours

Remember to bring your camera, swim suit, water shoes, towels, sunscreen, money. Hurry and book a ride with us to the blue hole before this hidden Jamaican jewel becomes just like every other.
